Regnartsign highres
Dear Regnart and Community - the time for action is now. We are actively moving forward, the ball is rolling, and we are working hard to form a committee to make a powerful statement to CUSD and the School Board that we are a collective community that won’t be sidelined. This is a last call to please fill out this form. Send it to your neighbors, your teachers, your friends, anyone who loves Regnart. We need all the help we can get! https://forms.gle/z5j7MsF8Z8pTEqHbA

We do not have to close schools to fix the budget deficit. Ask the Cupertino School Board Members why the change in the “charge” to the CAC.

Closing schools will:

  • Causes stress, harm and disruption by unnecessarily moving 1,200 students
  • Breaks our strong community by sending our kids away from home
  • Creates even more traffic at other school sites
  • Impacts the jobs of our wonderful, award-winning teachers
  • Reduces our home values because of the lack of neighborhood schools
  • We don't know how long the pandemic is going to last. We need all the schools so we can space kids out to come back in hybrid mode.

Let’s take a stand, RISE UP as parents, alumni, community members and DEMAND the Cupertino Union School District and the Cupertino School Board halt the order to close schools.

This is not the answer!

You can review the latest “scenarios” below.

I hope your family is keeping safe and well. You may have seen or heard that the CUSD board will be voting on closing 1-5 elementary schools on 10/22 board meeting, Regnart is one of the five being considered. This came as a shock to the Regnart community and we are getting together to fight this. The parents have formed a committee to make a powerful statement to CUSD and the School Board that we are a collective community that won’t be sidelined.

Now they are proposing to close another school in our area and it will cause trauma to our community. Some of the negative impacts are:

  • Causes stress, harm and disruption by unnecessarily moving 1,200 students Breaks our strong community by sending our kids away from home
  • Creates even more traffic at other school sites
  • Impacts the jobs of our wonderful, award-winning teachers
  • Reduces our home values because of the lack of neighborhood schools

We are asking your help to email to the following CUSD Board member why they should NOT close Regnart.

"There are several BIG issues working against us here, and we see and recognize that. However, the frustrating thing for us is that parents and stakeholders have been working behind the scenes for years now, spending a lot of time, effort, and energy, on other options. We are currently hard at work behind the scenes building an Ed foundation. Those of us spending this time and effort behind the scenes have been repeatedly told that there are several "levers" to be pulled, and school closures are an absolute last option because of how disruptive they are for not only the children but for neighborhood communities. In a matter of less than two weeks, the charge for the CAC was changed to "give us a multitude of options to look at to close this $4-6 mil gap" to "give us a fair and equitable way to close schools." That's what I think most parents, especially those of us so close to this cause, are the most upset about."
— Kelly Crosby, Regnart PTA President
"Kelly Crosby also the added stress of the “charge”being changed from look at different options to absolutely close 3 or more schools at the end of this school year. What happened to tapering the closures? This definitely felt like a bait and switch. I feel lied to all these months of trying to find “solutions” and help close the gap. Being in various committees to find these said solutions to oh by the way we are shuttering three or more schools deal with it. This does not sit well with me and other parents. This is not being transparent- an agenda has been set earlier on and we the schools in the yellow box in scenario 1 feel targeted. Very targeted to be exact. At the board meeting Jerry asked if Regnart’s TK’s were taken away and Leslie’s answer was disheartening. Two of our TK’s were taking away. Reducing our school by 48 students. Numbers never included TK or SDC students and now the numbers on all the CAC presentations include these numbers. It is so fishy and doesn’t seem right. In addition the minutes and notes have not been released yet from CAC. WHY NOT?? We need answers!!”
