To all my fellow Regnart families:
This school year has thrown us one challenge after another, with the closing of our school, the immediate adoption of Distance Learning, the loss of some of our amazing staff and classrooms, and now with the transition out of our brand-new principal, Ms. Norma Salas, who we have all loved welcoming into our community. This change has had a drastic effect on all of us and our children, and there is a lot of uncertainty in your voices as you ask questions that I simply cannot give answers to at this time.
However, one thing I do know is that the Regnart community is amazingly strong, resilient, and we work together to overcome any obstacle. Ms. Salas stated to me earlier this morning: we have an amazingly senior and accomplished staff, we have an involved and caring parent community and PTA, and we have kids who love school, love their friends, and want to learn. We will continue with that same sense of community and with the same Regnart spirit we know and love under Mr. Daric Jackson’s leadership and in the 2020-2021 school year, no matter what curveballs it throws at us! I know that Ms. Salas wishes that for our school and she will miss all of us, and our kids greatly. Personally, I very much look forward to working with Mr. Jackson and seeing what wonderful things he brings to our school. I hope you will join me in welcoming him with open arms.
I know that there are still many outstanding questions regarding the District budget deficit, declining enrollment, and what we as parents can do to help. I promise you that with the start of school in August, there will be communications from a new fundraising coalition that has been formed to help alleviate some of this burden. Both myself and Yari Toleno, your PTA Past President and current Executive Vice President, have been working with this coalition from the ground up to start something new and magical within Cupertino Union School District to think outside the box when it comes to funding our schools. We cannot solve every problem, but we can help with some of them, and we hope you’ll listen and consider what we have to say when the time comes.
In the meantime, I am open to any dialogue, questions you may have, or comments you’d like to make. I think transparent communication is important and I hope to continue to do so as the PTA Board meets with Mr. Jackson and we begin to plan for next year. Thank you for your time and I look forward to seeing you all as soon as it’s safe.
Regnart PTA President
